14/08/2012 - Briercliffe 10 Results

There's been joy, there's been disappointment. There have been personal bests as competitors have pushed their bodies to the limit. But it's all over now - yes, the final Briercliffe 10 of the season took place tonight with 12 riders making it to the starting line on a beautiful sunny warm evening.

Fastest of the night was Justin Lane with another impressive PB, crossing the line in 24:23. Three Nomads also went under 25 minutes with Andy Saunders leading Ryan Witchell and Ben Wilson home, Ryan netting a course PB of 24:47.

The main event was of course the final instalment in the Brompton Cup. Nick Hickman took the early lead with an impressive 14 second un-fold, however it was Nick Senechal who came home first with a new course record of 30:15. Good luck to both the Nicks as they go onto the Brompton World Cup at Blenheim Palace this weekend.

Well done to Will Bowers who broke 30 minutes on his first ride on the course and to Kieran Todd who PB'd again. Finally, it was good to see Mr. Collins go under 28 minutes on the final ride of the season. Well done er... Mark, with a PB of 27:43.

Thanks to David Rossall, Geoff Perry, Richard Bland and, of course, Frank Turner for timekeeping and setting off.

07/08/2012 - Briercliffe 10 Results

The penultimate Briercliffe 10 saw seven riders do battle against the clock around the Southill course. The weather conditions promised to be better than they actually were on the night, with a cross-wind affecting the course to the west of Ireland. The Olympics will have finished next week so come and have a final crack at a season's PB....

Nick Hickman continued to carry the Brompton standard and is set to lobby the IOC for inclusion in Rio 2016.

Top spot fell to the Nomads' Simon Doyle who recorded a second sub-25 minute time in two weeks. Justin Lane of CC Ashwell improved on his previous week's time to break the 24mph average.

Jon Traynor was one second off 28 minutes for the distance but still managed to hold Clive Collins off to claim third spot on the night.
